What we measured

3 out of 4 beauty websites in Norway cannot see where bookings come from

Between 30 September and 14 October 2026 we checked the websites of 654 beauty salons, clinics and dental practices in Norway. On 487 of them we could not find a Meta pixel in the page code. That is 3 out of 4.

Short answer

Without tracking you cannot see which ads, posts or searches bring bookings, and you cannot show ads again to people who already visited. The fix is small: the Meta pixel, Google Analytics 4, and the booking button tracked as a conversion.

What we found

  • 654 websites of beauty salons, clinics and dental practices in Norway were checked.
  • 487 of them had no Meta pixel we could find on the homepage.
  • Roughly half had neither a Meta pixel nor a Google tag at all.

These are businesses where almost every client comes from Instagram, Facebook or Google. Without tracking, every krone spent on ads or boosted posts is spent with closed eyes.

Why it matters

When the booking button is tracked, Meta and Google learn who actually books, not only who clicks. Ads get cheaper per booking over time, and you can show a gentle reminder to people who looked at a treatment but did not book.

How to fix it

  • Add the Meta pixel and Google Analytics 4, with a cookie banner.
  • Track the booking button, calls and messages as conversions.
  • Check after a week that bookings show up in both platforms.
  • Only then increase the budget, and only on what brings bookings.

Questions

How did you check the websites?

We loaded the public homepage of each website and looked for the Meta pixel and Google tags in the page code. A pixel loaded later through a tag manager or a cookie tool may not show in this check, so the real number can be a little lower.

Do I need the pixel if I do not run ads?

It helps the day you start. The pixel collects visitors from the first day, so you can show ads to people who already looked at your treatments.

What about cookies and consent?

In Norway tracking needs consent through a cookie banner. A proper setup includes the banner and respects the choice of the visitor.

What is a conversion?

An action that matters to your business, like a booking, a call or a message. When it is tracked, the ad platforms can find more people who do the same.
