Generative engine optimization: get cited in AI answers
More buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews before they click a single search result. Generative engine optimization (GEO) and answer engine optimization (AEO) make your business one of the sources those answers cite.

In short
GEO from Lysechko Digital is a monthly plan that makes your website easy for AI systems to find, understand and quote: access for AI crawlers, an llms.txt file, short answer blocks, FAQ, Service and Organization schema, consistent facts about your business across the web, and pages for the questions buyers ask AI. Every month I test a fixed set of buyer prompts and report where you are cited.

SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO in one minute
SEO gets your pages ranked in the classic search results.
AEO, answer engine optimization, makes your page the direct answer: featured snippets, voice assistants and AI answers.
GEO, generative engine optimization, gets your business cited in answers written by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot.
AIO is often used for Google's AI Overviews, the AI summary above the results.
They overlap: a site that is technically sound and answers questions clearly does well in all four. The full comparison is in SEO vs GEO vs AEO vs AIO.
How AI assistants choose their sources
For many questions, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini run a web search, read a handful of pages and cite some of them. They favor pages they can crawl and render, that answer the question in the first lines, that contain specific facts such as numbers, prices and steps, and whose facts match what other trusted sites say about the same business. Lists, tables and short definitions are quoted far more often than long introductions.
What the GEO plan includes
AI crawler access: robots.txt rules for OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended, and content that does not depend on scripts to load.
llms.txt: a plain text map of your most important pages for language models.
Answer blocks: a 40 to 60 word answer at the top of every key page, plus FAQ sections that use the questions buyers really ask.
Schema markup: Organization, Person, Service, FAQPage and Article, linked into one graph with sameAs links to your profiles.
Entity consistency: the same name, founder, services, prices and contact details on your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and directories.
Pages AI likes to cite: pricing, comparisons, how it works, and case studies with sourced numbers.
Mentions: getting your business named on sites that AI systems already trust in your industry.
How GEO is measured
AI answers change between users and over time, so single screenshots prove little. I build a panel of 20 to 50 buyer prompts, test them every month in the main engines and track how often you are cited or named. In Google Analytics 4 I separate referral traffic from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and gemini.google.com, and in Search Console I follow impressions for long, question style searches.
Check the method on this website
This site is built the way I build for clients. Open lysechko.com/llms.txt, look at the answer box at the top of any case study, or run a page through Google's Rich Results test. Every case study has an answer box, an FAQ and Article schema, and every number links back to a source in the project.
How it works
Baseline. A prompt panel for your market, tested in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google, plus a crawl and schema audit.
Fixes. AI crawler access, rendering, llms.txt, schema and entity consistency.
Answer content. Answer blocks, FAQ, pricing and comparison pages for the questions buyers ask.
Mentions. Profiles and mentions on sites AI systems trust in your industry.
Monthly report. Citations in the prompt panel, AI referral traffic and next steps.
Proof of the method
An SEO case with Search Console numbers, an MCP server that gives AI assistants sourced answers, and a live site with clean structured data.
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work that makes AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews find your content, understand it and cite your business in their answers.
Is GEO different from SEO?
They overlap. GEO builds on technical SEO, but puts more weight on short direct answers, specific facts, structured data and consistent information about your business across the web, because that is what AI systems quote.
What is answer engine optimization?
Answer engine optimization (AEO) structures content so that a search or AI engine can lift it as the direct answer to a question: a clear definition, a short list of steps or a table, right under the heading.
Can you make ChatGPT recommend my business?
No one controls AI answers, so I make no such promise. The work raises the chance that you are found and cited, and the monthly prompt panel shows whether it is working.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain text file at the root of a website that lists its most important pages with short descriptions, proposed in 2024 as a guide for language models. It is quick to add, and this site has one.
How long does GEO take?
Crawl and schema fixes can show within weeks, as soon as AI systems read the pages again. Mentions on other sites and a stronger reputation build over months.
I have worked with ads on Google, Meta and TikTok for more than seven years and personally managed ad budgets from $1,000 a day up to $50,000 a month. For the last two years I have built websites, automations and AI assistants with AI every day. I work remotely with clients in Norway and abroad, and every number on this page comes from a project you can open in the case studies. LinkedIn
